Locate files owned by a specific group

Login via SSH:

First you have to search the user file for their username.

grep $user /etc/passwd

This will give you their group id:

example results:


Where tupa is the username and the second number 2165 is their group id.

Then you can search the entire server for files owned by their group by using the following command:

find / -gid ‘$GID’

where $GID is their group id that was given from the previous command.
