Login via ssh:

fdisk /dev/hdb
Delete old partitions
Create a new one – entire drive
n, p,,, w

#need to sync with kernal so reboot
reboot

mkfs -t ext3 /dev/hdb1
e2label /dev/hdb1 /backupdrive

vi /etc/fstab
/dev/hdb1 /backupdrive ext3 defaults 1 2
OR
LABEL=/backupdrive /backupdrive ext3 defaults 1 2

mount /backupdrive
